Digital Camera: For
photographing real estate, look for a digital camera that is compact
for convenience. It should have at least a 28mm (35mm equivalent) lens.
or accepts an optional wide-angle converter to show off an interior
properly.
One of the most effective tools you can use to showcase any home
effectively is a digital SLR fitted with an ultra-wide-to-wide-angle
zoom lens. It allows you to showcase an entire room instead of just one
wall.
What you want from a lens is not a long zoom but the widest possible
angle. Most digital cameras have their widest angle setting at 45 -
55mm. This is not adequate enough. What you want is 28mm or less
The best size for a real estate photo is 640 x 480 pixels — which is
0.3 megapixels. This will give you plenty of resolution for your site
and to prepare simple flyers with prints no larger than 4"x6".
For weddings have a wide angle lens for candid shots and in tight
spaces and one longer lens 70-200mm.
Two megapixel digital cameras will produce very good 6x4 prints, but if
you are looking for exceptional quality then you will be better off
looking at 3 megapixel digital cameras. 5 and 6 megapixels will produce
clear prints up to about 8 x 10. The higher the megapixel the better
quality picture you will get.
Many of the newer cameras today are ten or more megapixels and can take
photos that will print nicely for you.
Most have preset modes that allow you to customize things for the type
of pictures you plan to take such as Portrait's - For taking
pictures of people...Macro mode - which helps you take close up
detailed shots of things like flower petals and insects...Scenic mode -
For taking pictures of landscapes... Night time mode - For taking
pictures in the dark
Camera Case or
Bag: Keep your camera in a padded case or bag in case it
is dropped or bumped.
Tripods: When taking photographs,
there is almost always some camera
movement that blurs the image. When choosing a tripod, there are 3
heights that you should consider the minimum and maximum working
heights, and the collapsed height. it's easiest to work with a tripod
that's tall enough to put the camera at eye level so you don't have to
bend over.
Batteries: Batteries should be
charged periodically because they will
slowly discharge if not used. Make sure you have fully charged spare
batteries on hand.
Types of camera lenses:
1. Normal Lens: A normal lens is
designed to provide a natural
perspective like our eyes see it. A normal lens is fine for many
situations, but they just can’t enlarge a scene the way a wide angle of
view can, or compress elements like a telephoto.
2. Telephoto Lens: The telephoto
lens is perfect for portraits; they
allow the photographer some distance from the subject. In addition to
portraits, telephoto lenses are often used when small or faraway
objects need to be enlarged such as birds
3. Wide-angle Lens: With a
wide-angle lens, you’re able to incorporate
the surroundings into the photograph. These lens are used by real
estate and landscape
photographers who need to
show complete interiors
or structures when they can’t get far enough away to use a normal lens.
4. Macro Lens:
A macro lens has a long barrel for close focusing
bringing the structure of small minuscule but detailed objects into
striking focus.
There are different categories of
macro lenses, depending on the focal
length:
50–60mm range commonly used for
and small objects.
90–105mm range the standard focal
range used for insects, flowers,
small objects
150–200mm range gives more working
distance — typically used for
insects and small animals
